Travel Time: To Moalboal in Pictures (Cebu, Philippines)

It’s the holidays so it’s one of those peak seasons for traveling. And our destination — Moalboal, a must visit diving spot in the southern portion of Cebu province. Yup, you must have heard the place; fact is, it has become quite popular that tourists have been flocking the place all year round. Really.

To get to Moalboal: Coming from Cebu City — head to the South Bus Terminal. Then take a Ceres bus with the Bato via Barili route (Fare P107). In this trip, you’d be passing by the cities or municipalities of: Talisay, Naga, San Fernando, Carcar, Barili, Dumanjug, Ronda, Alcantara, and then finally Moalboal. Just get off the town’s market and ride a tricycle or motorbike (Fare P50) to Panagsama Beach which is not really far..

Well, especially if it’s your first time, the trip is an adventure itself considering the number of owns you’ll pass by.. And there’s even a port in Dumanjug for those wanting to go to Negros province.

Good location. Nice sand. Great view. But.. we’re done for now.

Oh¬†worry not, this is just how to get to Moalboal and a little glimpse of the Panagsama beach..¬†there’s more coming up on our next post!

Travel Time: To Bohol in Pictures (Philippines)

Have you tried inter-island trips? Well, it’s kinda exciting, you know.. Not only would you see different places but you also get to travel by boat. And as the slogan goes, ‘it’s more fun in the Philippines’!

And that’s just what I did for some important appointments.. From Cebu to Tagbilaran, Bohol via fastcraft.

image

image

image

Well, cool huh?! Planes are nice, but it gets to your destination fast. No time for adventure. Unlike sea travel where you could appreciate ‘nature’..

The breeze. The islands. The sunset. The sea.. Yeah, even if it gets kinda wavy, still there’s that good feeling.

Hmm…

Consumer Experience: The Road-weary Massage

Just had a Thai body massage at Baan Khun Thai, the ‘house of traditional massage’ as they’ve been promoting it.

Okay, let’s then go through the experience that’s especially useful whether for first-timers or not as to know what to expect in this place..

image
Waiting Area
image
Foot Wash

As you enter, you’d be asked the kind of massage you wish (of course, along with informing you of their prices) and then directing you to the waiting area where you’d be given a ‘foot wash’ for starters..

Afterwards, onto the hallway you go and to the ‘room’ for your ‘traditional massage’..

image

And there, you get the pampering you deserve. Well, the place may not have the scents some of you may be used to, or even the ‘perfect’ setup you wish for; but it does have the ‘tranquility’ and the helpfulness of the masseuse which is just enough to ease those body aches you’ve been carrying for awhile.

More so, you get a bonus, Baan Khun Thai is not only along the road — which is great for the road-weary — but they even offer discounts if you drop by between 12 noon to 5pm.

Not bad. Water or tea?

1 November 2015: Malls Closed (Cebu City)

Yes it’s November 1, a holiday and at the same time — a Sunday. But wait, malls are closed. Really.

Went around Ayala Center Cebu as well as SM City in Cebu but found these..

image

image

Is it good? I mean, while we try to remember our dead, is closing malls the ideal thing to do? Really?

Now, how about tourists or even local visitors? This would affect their impression for one. Not so good for tourism. As most anyone, they expected the mall to open according to schedule, 10am.. So, they could be waiting for hours if ever.

Okay, every place has their own custom and practices that we should respect, but at least, the malls’ administration could have placed a notice (even at the entrance) beforehand. And that’s even coming from the mouths of the locals.

image

Makes sense?

If closing malls is the ideal thing to do on the 1st of November, then how about ‘closing beaches’? Yeah. Really.

See, beaches are far more engaging that one could almost forget anything — even the supposedly spiritual Good Friday.

Hmm… Finally! The mall opened just after 12 noon. Still, it’s time to set our priorities straight.

Trip Review: 2GO (Manila-Cebu)

It’s been a while since I last rode a ship on my travels. And so I thought, how about a change of ‘scenery’?!

Hmm… On the onset, the problem with local ships though is that if it gets delayed, its departure gets rescheduled. At least that’s exactly what happened on my trip from Manila to Cebu. A Monday 7:30pm trip got moved to a Tuesday 5am departure — which in fact became even an hour later.

Still, sea travel has a different kind of appeal. Notice why cruises are valued and luxurious? Anyway, for this one, let’s go through a little more of 2GO’s St. Francis Xavier..

The ship is not really ‘grand’ actually but it does have some amenities you could find, well.. Helpful in your trip.

From stores to spas and salons to ‘videokes’ and acoustics at night among others..

image
Charging stations all over the ship
image
Roaming snacks for sale

Yet many passengers are grumbling amongst themselves, and why not? Not only is the cellphone charging slow that it eats up all your coins, the ‘packaged’ food is so little and almost ‘everything is bought’.. Even water. Good if they’re reasonably priced, you know.

Just imagine the less privileged.

image

image

Still, more than just the lower fare and centralized airconditioning, if only for the experience and friendships you’ll make along the way..

It’s still worth the trip.

Hotel Review: Hotel Sogo (Avenida)

With a ‘So clean.. So good’ slogan, Hotel Sogo must be worth a try — I thought — whether for travelers like me, or those just seeking for a nice place to stay; and so, I checked out the place in Avenida, Manila..

image
Lobby

Hmm… Another interesting policy. Their staff would bow to greet you at the lobby that if they fail to do so — they’d give you ‘half-fried chicken’ for free!

image
Hallway

The hallways are many, short and narrow.. Obviously, they tried to maximize space — oh, typical of motels.

image
Entrance

First thing you’d see upon entering your room.. A ‘movable table’ for room service orders. And there’s two doors actually before getting to your bed — for more privacy.
image

Well, pretty small room but.. Just enough for one or two people.

image
Bathroom

Yup, the bathroom is clean with hot and cold water. No tub though.

image
The bed

And of course the bed.. Linen may not be classy but it’s clean just the same.

image
TV, aircon and what's left of space

So, there’s your cable TV equipped with the channels you’d want.. But one thing I like about the place is the free international calls they give, and that’s up to 100 countries.

And with reasonable prices based on your ‘hours’ of stay (ex. 3, 6, 9, 12h or daily rate).. It’s ‘value for your money’.

A Day at the La Vista Inland Resort

Summer time means fun at the beach, or swimming at resorts; and for today, we feature Balanga City’s La Vista Inland Resort..

In a super hot day filled with warm bodies looking to beat the heat.
image

image

The inland resort is actually located near the highway, so it’s really ideal for those who has their own vehicle..
image

image

image

image

As we can see, it’s got a good interior with all those greens – just real close to nature, so relaxing..
image

image
Wave pool

image

Oh, it does have 3 different pools, and one of them is a wave pool where it mimics the waves of the beach.. Yea, real fun!
image

image

image

image

Around the resort, there are various sights you could enjoy..

Then again, the place is also starting to deteriorate. It used to have an aviary but now, not even a single bird could be found. There also was a boating area, unfortunately, it has been left to dry. And lastly, the pool has to be maintained better as one could clearly notice how blurry the water is even only a few hours after opening..
image

image

Still, if you wish to spend more time, even overnight or so, there are cottages for you and your family..

You know, a nature-filled ambiance not only refreshens us but it’s also a good place to bond.
