Music Review: Cheap Thrills (Sia ft. Sean Paul and Maggie Ziegler)

After seeing the controversial team-up of Australian singer Sia and American dancer Maggie Ziegler in Elastic Heart, and then Chandelier — we thought, hey, Maggie is for real! She was then just what 11, 12 but what wonderful acting?!!

And so, the team-up continues.. Sia’s song. Maggie’s expressiveness. Unbelievable combination! No wonder Sia’s Cheap Thrills has now climbed up to number 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 for this week — so, let’s check out their masterpiece.

Hmm… Very Sia-Maggie. Great melody. And the lyrics? It’s even just about the ‘cheap thrills’ of dancing — yep, the wordings are simply repetitive and almost like nonsense. Then again, with the fantastic dancing of Maggie coupled with a cool setting — the lyrics don’t really matter anymore, only the melody.

And that’s worth over 134 million YouTube views, and counting..

Music Review: Elastic Heart (Sia ft. Shia LaBeouf & Maggie Ziegler)

At number 17 in this week’s Billboard Top 100 Hits is a wild song by Sia entitled Elastic Heart..

As it’s YouTube video now with over 60 million views became a controversial one right from its release, let’s see why..

So.. many says it has that air of “pedophilia”, you think so? An older man paired with a 12-year-old holding sensually is pedophilia. But this one?

Hmm… they’re dancing for a music video – and without really suggesting “sensuality” – but expressing confusion and rage in some ways. So?

Okay, the lyrics is about two adults in their complicated world. So why let a 12-year-old perform in this video? Art? Expressionism?

Well, there’s a fine line to it.

Music Review: Chandelier (Sia)

Maddie Ziegler is that almost 12-year-old girl who performed in Sia’s Chandelier; and where she looked like a dynamo even at a young age.

Well, the song actually was something like an expression of freedom demonstrated by Maddie in a vibrant way. The combination of those hands, legs, and body movement truly gave life to a setting implied as a cage.

While those eyes.. Those eyes just danced with the tune – as the performance was simply like watching gymnastics in the Olympics.

Overall, was the music good? Well, how does being number 9 in this week’s Billboard charts sound?
